Audition Reminder: TONIGHT

 

Auditions for our upcoming production of “Swing” Dance by local playwright Lynda Martens are TONIGHT (Monday, June 9th) at 3:30pm at the Tanys Quesnel Living Learning Centre, 101 Cherryhill Blvd, Unit 113. We are looking to fill the following roles:

Vicky Parker: (F) 50-70; career mom turned entrepreneur, swing dancer

Walter Parker: (M) 50-70; recently retired, this is day one of the rest of his life

Fred (Dante) Pringle: (M) 50-70; Vicky’s metrosexual business mentor, swinger

Jane (Jasmine) Pringle: (F) 50-70; Dante’s sophisticated wife, swinger

Come prepared to read scenes from the script, if you require a copy ahead of time please contact dontforgettheatre@gmail.com for more information.

This is a fantastically hilarious script and we can’t wait to begin rehearsals! For anyone who wants to be involved but doesn’t want to be on stage, please contact us to sign up for any of the following roles:

– stage manager and assistant stage managers

– lighting operator

– sound operator

– props, set and costume designers

and many more!

Next Meeting is Friday May 30th

Our next performance is in the works and we are assembling all of our volunteers for the next stage in this exciting journey! Anyone and everyone who has expressed an interest in joining our group is welcome to attend our next volunteer meeting on Friday May 30th at 4:00pm. We will be meeting at our office in the Tanys Quesnel Living Learning Centre (pictured below), 101 Cherryhill Blvd Unit 113. We will be starting work on our next production, and are happy to announce that our new show will be “Swing Dance” by local playwright Lynda Martens!

Rehearsal Today is at Procunier Hall

Thank you to all our fabulous volunteers for such an amazing rehearsal on Tuesday! We will continue working today on Act 2. A reminder to everyone that rehearsal today is at Procunier Hall in the Palace Theatre at 710 Dundas St. For parking and bus info, please see the map below. We will see everyone there at 2:30pm!

First Rehearsal is TODAY

Our first rehearsal for “Look Up: From Rock n Roll to Recliner” is today (Thursday May 8th) from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. We will be doing our first full run of the entire show and are looking for all of our talented musicians, actors and crew to attend. Any new volunteers are also welcome as we are looking to train lighting, sound and projector operators for the show. The rehearsal will take place at:

Our official poster for “Look Up: From Rock n Roll to Recliner” are being distributed as we speak! Our talented group of seniors will be performing at Procunier Hall in the Palace Theatre on May 23rd as a part of the Creative Age London Festival. Playwrights Larry Regan and Denyse Gervais Regan have in the process of creating a brand new musical piece that will be shown for the first time at our event, giving audience members a chance to participate in the process of theatre. There will be a talk back afterwards with our volunteers, who will give seniors in the community an exclusive look into the growth of a show, from paper to stage.

First Rehearsal for “Look Up” is May 8th

We want to extend a HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who attended our meeting last week. We were so impressed with the passion and talent in the room and are very excited to move forward with our first project!

As discussed, our first rehearsal will be Thursday May 8th from 1:30pm-4:30pm in the basement of the Skill Centre at 141 Dundas St. Please follow the map below to find the entrance at the back of the building, and take the elevator to the lower level.

Anyone who attended the meeting and all new volunteers are welcome!
